Some people chase numbers. I chase tone.
For over a decade I’ve wound pickups in a small workshop in the Netherlands. It started as an obsession with early-1960s Stratocasters and turned into a search for one set, the one most players are actually looking for.
It isn’t the hottest or the brightest, and it isn’t a museum copy. It’s the one that feels alive the moment you plug in.
More than a thousand coils later, I kept landing in the same spot. Bell on top, wood in the middle, a firm low end and a response that follows your hands. It sounds great in the studio, at home and on stage.
It made me smile every time, and my clients kept saying the same. Now I wind it by hand, the same way for every set.
